Frequently Asked Questions
You can't be everywhere, yet you don't want to forget a thing about your wedding day.
That’s why we’re here. We provide you with experienced, professional, videographers. It is our priority to capture all of the moments you don’t want to miss so that you have them to enjoy and share for years to come.
Your wedding day is one of the most celebrated days of your life. We believe that budgeting for an amazing photographer and wedding filmmaker is a necessity and should be one of the top decisions you make when planning your wedding day.
You have spent months deciding on each and every detail. Your wedding film will allow you to relive not only the beauty but also the sounds and atmosphere of your special day for a lifetime.
Ask any bride and she will agree that the wedding day flies by. Avoid the regret of not having a way to experience your day again by choosing to capture your day on film.
Please remember we need time to set up for your special moments! Your day is composed of many mini “events” like the ceremony, entrances, first dances, speeches, cake cutting, etc. Unlike photography where a few photos throughout those events will do we are here to capture the whole “events” in their entirety. We need a few minutes to set up. If there are surprises by you or your guests we do not know about or there are last minute changes to the schedule, or location changes, we cannot guarantee we will capture those “events” from beginning to end.
What areas do you service?
Dream Day Cinema services all areas in the state of New York. We do not charge any additional travel costs if the wedding videography falls inside the Utica and Syracuse area.
How do you make your films?
My first step is getting to know my client personally and learning who they are and what is meaningful to them. Your wedding video is handcrafted and detailed to your specific wedding day. We will find out what are the most important aspects of your wedding.
What do I need to know about your prices?
We don’t want you to choose us based on price alone. We want you to choose us because you love the quality and craftsmanship of our wedding videography. With that being said, we strive to be affordable so you can have a video you love for the most important day of your life!
How do we reserve a date?
After a contract is signed and your deposit of $200.00 is made, you have successfully reserved your wedding videography date! The deposit is non-refundable.
Who is Dream Day Cinema and who will be shooting my wedding?
Dream Day Cinema is owned by me, Christy Thompson, lead filmmaker/Videographer. I am a highly trained fine artist and filmmaker. I work with other highly trained videographers to create compelling wedding footage. I produce all edits and films myself. In cases of death of family or severe illness of Christy Thompson a trusted team will complete your production. There will NEVER be a situation in which your wedding is not fully covered.
We don’t want a production made of our wedding day, we want it very low key. What kind of lights do you use?
I have been to many weddings where the videographer is front and center. It is very distracting, and interferes with the beauty that is your special day and also inhibits the photographer from being able to do their job. The last thing you want is blaring lights interfering with the photographer! If you choose Dream Day Cinema wedding videography, you won’t even notice that a film production is taking place. We do not use artificial lighting or large equipment. We will not be in people’s faces, we want genuine moments unadulterated by the filming.
How far will you travel, will it cost extra?
Travel is INCLUDED in all packages within a 50 mile radius of the Utica and Syracuse area. Over 50 miles requires an additional cost of $200.00. This additional cost covers overnight accommodations.
How do you work with Photographers?
We make sure to develop a good relationship with your selected photographer and we will call them before your event. We know your photos are JUST as important as your video is. We constantly communicate with your photographer during your wedding to ensure you have both beautiful, stunning and memorable videos and photos.
What kind of equipment do the videographers use?
We shoot with DSLR cameras. We may all use supplementary equipment such as tripods, sliders, steadicam, shoulder rig, additional lighting, and microphones to capture the best quality audio and video possible. We cannot guarantee the quality of the audio if the groom chooses not to wear a microphone.
We are very unobtrusive with our equipment. Typically, the groom will wear a microphone during the ceremony in order to capture your vows. You may choose whether or not you want to wear a mic. However, we cannot guarantee the quality of the audio if the groom does not wear a mic.
What about the music in the film? Do we get to pick it?
Music is very subjective and we want your film to represent you. So for our clients we honor their style/music preferences. Your wedding soundtrack will reflect your taste. We will send a questionnaire asking for song selections.
What is your cancellation policy?
In the event of a postponement or cancellation of your contract, the deposit will be forfeited to Dream Day Cinema. Keep in mind we may have had to turn down another wedding to hold your date.
How do you handle a church's limitations?
While this is going to be your only wedding, there is a pretty good chance that we will be returning to your church in the future for another. One of our first objectives when we get to a ceremony site during your rehearsal, is to talk with someone from the church about where we can shoot. We always assure them that our style is discreet and professional before anything else.
Some obstacles are beyond our control, but we will come to a compromise and we never interfere.
Many churches and synagogues have guidelines, such as no flash photography and no moving around during the ceremony, and understandably so.
We strive to place our cameras in a position which affords us a clear view of your faces during the ceremony. This is not always possible, because some churches restrict the camera position to a limited area. Even so, we will still do our best to capture every essential detail during your special day!
Are you going to shove your microphone in the faces of our guests at the wedding, demanding that they say something?
Interviews only take place if each individual guest wants to. While messages from guests can be a very valuable and treasured part of your wedding day DVD, the choice is up to the guests that are comfortable with it.
What payment options do you accept?
We accept, checks, cash, and all major credit cards
Why do you require a contract for wedding videography?
The answer is simple, it shows us you are serious about hiring Dream Day Cinema and it also allows us to book and hold your date for only you.
Quick side note: We only film one wedding a day (so we can give you our full attention), and limit our number of clients each month so we have the time to edit and create amazing wedding videos. Reservations are on a first come basis. Contact us today!
What is a Save the Date/Love Story Video?
